Maine Invention Convention

Invention convention worldwide is an international competition that brings together young inventors, and creates a community of educators, business leaders, parents and students to share ideas and inventions, as well as creating entrepreneurial opportunities for students through patent awards and workshops. 

Invention Convention Rules and Requirements

Teams or Individuals 

Students can compete in the Invention

Convention either individually or in a group of no more than four inventors.

Registration

Registration for the statewide competition closes on January 30th.

Trifold

A trifold poster display is required for the competition. The content displayed is up to the inventor but everything must relate to their invention.

Students must submit either a 

prototype, model, or detailed drawing of their invention. They do not need to submit a working invention. 

Prototype

Judging 

Inventions will be judged using a rubric provided by Invention Convention. Inventors will be interviewed by several judges before being scored. 

Logbooks

Inventors will need to submit their log book along with their invention and trifold. Logs that were typed may be printed submitted as a stapled packet.

3 Minute Video Pitch

A 3 minute video pitch is required for the National Competition. A video pitch is not required for competition at the state or school level.

Prohibited Items 

Weapons, explosives, and dangerous chemicals are prohibited. If you have a question about if your material is prohibited please reach out to Maine Invention Convention and ask.

Costs/Fees

There is no fee to compete at the school or state level competition. The registration fee for the national competition will be decided by Invention Convention Worldwide.
